More about: TONY FOX

Tony Fox

Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications

MTV Networks Entertainment Group

Tony Fox is executive vice president, corporate communications, MTV Networks Entertainment Group.  He is based at the company's New York City headquarters and reports to Doug Herzog, president of MTV Networks Entertainment Group.

The Entertainment Group is comprised of a multi-platform portfolio of brands featuring the COMEDY CENTRAL, Spike TV and TV Land cable channels as well as internet sites AtomFilms, AtomUploads, GameTrailers.com and Xfire In addition to oversight of all internal and external communications for the cable networks, Foxís role includes oversight and communications responsibility for all of the Groupís internet sitesí internal and external strategic communication.  He oversees and implements all consumer, trade and business press initiatives for the Group.

Foxís extensive media relations background, strategic thinking as well as his leadership, media relationships and outgoing personality has led him to his newest position within the MTV Networksí Entertainment Group.  He joined the Comedy Channel before its culminating merger with HA! The TV Comedy Network, which became COMEDY CENTRAL, in January of 1991.  His long experience in media relations and public relations for the company led to a 1996 promotion to senior vice president of corporate communications and, in November, 2000, to executive vice president.  Prior to the merger, he had been vice president of media relations and director of public relations for the Comedy Channel.

One of Foxís current goals is to expand the Entertainment Groupís profile among all media, including coverage of the Groupís aggressive foray into the digital media space, while continuing to drive awareness and ratings for the Groupís linear cable channels.  He prides himself on an open and honest dialogue with the press which he believes is the foundation for media relations success.

Foxís past experience includes a number of sports public relations jobs at HBO and as head of sports publicity at CBS.

While he has made the transition from sports to comedy, Fox said he has not given up his love of sports.  He spends his free time playing ice hockey, golf, surfing and softball, but also enjoys cooking and gardening.  Currently, Fox resides in Little Silver, NJ with his wife Andrea and children Patrick, Charlie and Sarah.
