* UN Military Observers have
been monitoring the United Nations "ceasefire line" since 1949. The
"ceasefire line" was a temporary measure to stop hostilities until a United
Nations Plebiscite took place. As a UN plebiscite has yet to take place, the
military observers still remain deployed, thus dividing Kashmir and its
families--a purpose never envisaged for the UN Military Observer Group in
Kashmir.
