-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More About: LESTER MARROW & "THE STREETS OF HARLEM"
“THE STREETS OF HARLEM” By Author Lester Marrow Greetings to all: My reasons for writing THE STREETS OF HARLEM would be as simple as wanting to document a life style an alternative era that may have never been explained correctly to our youth and adults that might have had no idea as to what took place in the past which I feel plays an extensive roll on our today’s social order. A good friend of mines explained to me one day as we sat back congregating about history it self. Such jewel revealed, “If it’s was never documented it never existed!” As a youth growing up in Harlem bare witnessing so many events which occurred comparing each aspect to our today’s Harlem. I felt in my heart that it was actually my responsibility to do something immediately, which would represent me as well as the entire neighborhood. From the beginning era of Hip Hop, to the drug epidemic which saturated many homes, on down to the deaths of so many great individuals, along with the good and bad memories of such a great vicinity would definitely be the reasons of writing THE STREETS OF HARLEM. The truth to the matter is I wanted us to go down in history for years to arrive so that our younger generation and the generations after would sit back analyzing while reading the set backs as well as greatness of a unique era. Creating this novel would reveal the truth so that we as a people would never remain in the state of oblivion for years to come. On another note I would like to thank everyone which has been a part of The Harlem East Life Plan Program. As a recovering addict of drug addiction I am still learning!! I ask all of you which are recovering addicts to help us help win this battle of addiction…. Thank You!! LESTER MARROW
