ABOUT

Carmen Lee Shue has over 15 years of experience in the New York City Real Estate Industry.  As a Board Member for a reputable Upper West Side Condominium, she was considered the key catalyst for saving her Condo from going into bankruptcy by reducing costs and avoiding unnecessary increases in maintenance for several years.

Carmen's real estate seminars have been hosted by such prestigious names as Banco Popular, The New York Public Library (Science, Industry, and Business Library) and Marble Collegiate Church.  In 1991, Ms. Lee Shue founded the Entrepreneurs Group at Marble Collegiate Church.  As a published author, she has contributed to articles appearing in Real Estate Weekly, Cooperator, Habitat Magazine, Spirit, Resident and New York Living.  In 1999, she appeared on NY1/TV advising boards on how they should prepare their buildings for Y2K.

PERSONAL MISSION

When I was growing up and in elementary school, the teachers would ask the students what we wanted to be when we grew up.  Some would say that they wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher or a nurse.  But, for some reason, I did not have a clear picture in my mind of what I wanted to be.  I knew for sure that I did not want to work for anyone and I recall saying that I would like to be a nurse only because I did not want to be left out.

One of the most important persons in your life is a doctor, who saves your life and the next important person in your life is a real estate broker who provides you with a roof over your head.  So, there is no mistake that I would end up being in real estate because it is all about helping people.

When I changed careers to be in real estate, like so many people, I thought I was going to make a ton of money, but I later found it to be a myth.  Over the years, I've come to realize that the real reason why I became a professional real estate broker was because I truly love helping people.  For the past two years, I have been conducting seminars on buying real estate at the New York Public Library [Science, Industry, and Business Library].  At this seminar, I walk people through the process from planning to closing.  My seminar is not only for first time buyers but also for those people who have already made their purchase so that they can evaluate their mistakes.

I've spent a good part of my life doing volunteer work.  I have volunteered as an auxiliary policewoman for four years and was raised tot he rank of sergeant.  I have donated my time and expertise to The Metropolitan Museum of Arts in the membership department.  Since 1999, I have been supporting the Special Olympics and currently I'm working with "Project Find" feeding the homeless and elderly at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
