On March
17, 2009 Splitting the Sky performed his
civic duty, acting with respect of the
law and the integrity of his the heart,
on behalf of himself and millions of
people around the world, in his attempt
to arrest the credibly accused war
criminal and former US President, George
W. Bush. In doing so, he proved his
loyalty and integrity in upholding the
Great Law (Kaianereh’ko:wa) of his
people, the Criminal Code of Canada, and
the Nuremberg Principles and other
international agreements concerning
accused war criminals.
Splitting
the Sky invoked the principles of Civil
Resistance which hold that, when those
who are in a position of trust and have
a duty to act fail to do so, the citizen
has no choice but to act to further the
cause of justice. He was arrested and
charged with Obstruction of Justice to
which he will face his day in court on
March 8th, 2010 in Calgary Alberta.
Why is
this important??
Because for the first time in history,
Splitting the Sky now has 5 days in
front of a judge in a court of law, in
the Province of Alberta, to present
evidence of War Crimes, Torture and
Crimes Against Humanity, as well as the
involvement of the Bush administration
in the attacks of September 11th, 2001.
Former US
Attorney General Ramsey Clark former
Georgia State Congress Woman and Green
Party presidential Candidate Cynthia
McKinney have accepted to testify in his
defence. Leading 9/11 author Dr. David
Ray Griffin has provided him with an
eighteen page affidavit to be read
before the court and former Canadian
diplomat, retired professor and
political writer Peter Dale Scott has
also accepted to testify if requested,
as have Prof. Michel Chossudovsky of
Global Research, and former FAA Air
Traffic controller Robin Hordon.

Continuing on the prior subject, Splitting the Sky
points out all those companies involved in the process
in which the Twin Towers were taken down.
Splitting the Sky (born
January 7, 1952) is an activist,
struggling for justice for the
indigenous peoples of the Americas. His
Mohawk name, Dacajeweiah, translated into English is
"Splitting the Sky". He was born in Buffalo, New York, colonized
as "John Boncore", and also became known as "John Hill".
From the age of seven, Splitting the Sky survived many years in
New York foster homes and youth detention centers in which he
was ill-treated. Eventually he would become the only man
convicted as a ringleader of the infamous 1971
Attica State Prison rebellion in upstate New York, in the
course of which 43 inmates were killed. This event has inspired
several movies -- "Against the Wall" (1994) starring
Samuel L. Jackson, and "Attica" (1980) starring
Morgan Freeman -- and documentaries including "Attica"
(1974), and "The Ghosts of Attica" (2001). He was
listed by former
UN
Ambassador
Andrew Young of the Carter administration as the number one
political prisoner in the USA in 1975.
Splitting the Sky founded an organization to unite all
Indigenous Peoples into a great confederation called the League
of Indigenous Sovereign Nations of the Western Hemisphere
(LISN). In 1995 he was the
Sun Dance Chief at Gustafsen Lake,
British Columbia, during the
Gustafsen Lake Standoff, which was precipitated by a rancher
who attempted to evict the Sun Dancers from what he claimed was
his property. The incident turned into a major protest against
the occupation of unceded native land. Splitting the Sky was an
outspoken critic of the government's handling of the incident
and was among those who raised the question of so-called
Aboriginal Title under international law. Specifically,
aboriginal title is enshrined under the
Royal Proclamation of 1763, which is validated as an
aboriginal right in
section (35) of the Canadian constitution. With his wife
Sandra Bruderer, whose
Cree
name translates to "She Keeps the Door", he co-wrote a 653 page
book titled "".

Dacajeweiah (Splitting the Sky), or John Boncore Hill, is a
Kanien’keha:ka (Mohawk) warrior who has experienced
extraordinarily much in his lifetime of struggle for justice. He
was a central figure in two of the major standoffs in the
twentieth century. Therefore, it is not surprising that his
autobiography, From Attica
Lake to Gustafsen Lake — Unmasking the Secrets of the
Psycho-sexual Energy and the Struggle for Original People’s
Title, written with his
wife Sandra (She Keeps The Door) Bruderer, is a hefty book at
653 pages.
Splitting the Sky takes readers colloquially through his amazing
life events, making the book an easy and informative, but
necessarily long, read. Throughout his autobiography, he exposes
the racist and imperialist agenda of colonialist governments in
Turtle Island (North America). As a bookend, he tells of the
struggle for Indigenous dignity and rights by a group of
Sundancers at Ts’peten, aka Gustafsen Lake, in British Columbia
(BC) and the so-called justice meted out afterwards. An early
eerie ordeal was Splitting the Sky’s incarceration in New York’s
notorious Attica State Prison.
Splitting the Sky was the only person sentenced to do prison
time following the hostage-taking of prison guards that
precipitated the state’s lethal storming of Attica on 13
September 1971, on the order of then New York governor Nelson
Rockefeller. State police officers were implicated in the
killing of, at least, 39 people, including 10 hostages at Attica
prison. Splitting the Sky related how outlawed CN-4 gas was
dropped into the jail before troops burst in and “were
systematically killing in a blood rage like a thirst that could
not be quenched.” A commission led by New York law professor
Robert McKay described the assault as the “bloodiest one-day
encounter between Americans, except for the massacres against
Indians of the 19th Century.” Rockefeller called his decision to
retake the prison “a matter of principle.” Splitting the Sky
considered that Rockefeller had “sanctioned the death of 43
human beings” that day.
The major focus of the book, however, is on Gustafsen Lake, a
lightly populated wilderness area in south-central BC, near the
town of 100 Mile House. In 1995, a group of Original Peoples
gathered there to celebrate the Sundance ceremony, previously
forbidden by Canadian authorities. Splitting the Sky was honored
as the chief of the ceremony.
Trouble arose when some ranch hands of the purported land owner,
Lyle James, rode in, disturbed the sacred ceremonial site, and
made derogatory remarks about “red niggers.” This incited a
confrontation and the so-called occupation of the Gustafsen Lake
ranch.
