Jackson as its executive director, effective March 2. Jackson currently manages Banque Indosuez's derivatives products group in New York. "It is ISDA's good fortune to have Carolyn Jackson join us, concluding a thorough search for an outstanding executive director," said Gay Evans, chairman of ISDA and a managing director of Bankers Trust International in London. "Carolyn's depth of experience in financial risk management, leadership capabilities and prominence in the industry's affairs will enable her to make a major contribution to ISDA's global mission." At Banque Indosuez, Jackson is a first vice president in charge of the derivatives products group. The group in New York has worldwide responsibility for U.S. dollar transactions. Previously, Jackson set up the New York office of BNP Capital Markets where she managed U.S. dollar derivative sales and trading operations and also had responsibility for Eurobond and private placement marketing. Her professional career began at Chase Manhattan in New York in 1982. A member of the bank's original swap team, she is credited with a key role in transforming Chase's swap business into a separate trading operation accounted for on a mark-to-market basis. She was head of U.S. dollar derivatives trading worldwide when she left in 1987. Jackson is a guest lecturer at the business schools of New York University and Baruch College and has taught derivatives courses for the Federal Reserve Bank Examiner Training School and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. A founding member of the International Association of Financial Engineers, she currently serves as secretary and a member of its board. Jackson holds a Master of Science degree in finance and applied economics from the Simon Graduate School of Business Administration in Rochester, N.Y. where she has also completed course work and examinations for a Ph.D. in finance. ISDA is the world's leading trade association for privately negotiated swaps and related derivatives. Founded in 1985, its members include most of the world's major banks, securities firms and other financial institutions as well as government entities and corporations. ISDA works with regulators, experts in related disciplines and end-users to promote sound practices and efficient swap activity. -0- Editor Note: A head shot of Carolyn Jackson is available. ISDA was chartered in 1985 and totally has over 850 member institutions from 56 countries on six continents. These members include most of the world's major institutions that deal in privately negotiated derivatives, as well as many of the businesses, governmental entities and other end-users that rely on over-the-counter derivatives to manage efficiently the financial market risks inherent in their core economic activities. Since its inception, ISDA has pioneered efforts to identify and reduce the sources of risk in the derivatives and risk management business. Among its most notable accomplishments are: developing the ISDA Master Agreement; publishing a wide range of related documentation materials and instruments covering a variety of transaction types; producing legal opinions on the enforceability of netting and collateral arrangements (available only to ISDA members); securing recognition of the risk-reducing effects of netting in determining capital requirements; promoting sound risk management practices, and advancing the understanding and treatment of derivatives and risk management from public policy and regulatory capital perspectives. Among other types of documentation, ISDA produces definitions related to credit default swaps. ISDA hosts conferences, symposiums and seminars each year to educate its members and the industry on a broad range of derivatives and risk management issues. ISDA held over 140 conferences during 2008 on subjects that ranged from risk management, documentation, collateral, operations and new types and uses of derivatives on the latest developments across the industry. ISDA's largest event is its Annual General Meeting which is held in a different city each year, and considered by many to be the preeminent event in the derivatives and risk management industry. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
